Why we're applying in Louisiana — and why it matters

LA GATOR was Louisiana's biggest expansion of school choice in a generation. Year 1 (2025-26) is rolling out to roughly 5,300 students with ~$5,500 per student. Year 2+ expands eligibility universally. Louisiana families have been writing us asking when they can use GATOR funds for hands-on curriculum — the answer is: as soon as the state's vendor list finalizes. We're in that queue.

How Louisiana families use LA GATOR Scholarship for Simply Earth

01

We submitted in the first vendor cohort

Filed with the Louisiana Department of Education under hands-on science curriculum + lab supplies. Most new programs review Year-1 vendors over 10–14 weeks while staff finalize approval criteria.

02

While we wait, families on the list get updates

We email wait-list families monthly with the program's progress, what's eligible, what's not, and how to prepare your application for fastest reimbursement.

03

Day-one access + 10% credit

Once approved, wait-list families get the Louisiana invoice format, a 10% credit on their first ESA-funded order, and priority support for their first ClassWallet-style submission.

Curriculum and instructional materials (including hands-on science kits), tutoring, testing fees, and approved educational technology. Our Recipe Box fits the curriculum + instructional materials category.

Absolutely. The Recipe Box ($540/year) is available to any family — many Louisiana families pay out-of-pocket because the curriculum saves them hours of prep + supply runs.

If you lead a Louisiana homeschool co-op of 5+ families, apply for our free Co-op Lesson Box today — no ESA approval needed. Once GATOR approves, your co-op families can fund their subscriptions individually.
